Mumbai’s ambitious Water Metro project has taken a major step forward with the arrival of its first electric ferry at JNPT. Trial runs are expected to begin in June, marking the start of a new era of water based public transport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The first route is planned between Belapur and Gateway of India, aiming to reduce travel time, ease road congestion and offer a cleaner transport alternative using fully electric vessels.
