Assam's Rupa Nirola has brought pride to the state after being selected to represent India at the Miss Deaf World Pageant, scheduled to be held in the Czech Republic from July 20 to 29. Rupa, a resident of Suklai village in Dimakuchi, Udalguri district, is one of only two deaf contestants from India selected for the prestigious international beauty pageant. She earned her place after winning the Miss Deaf India Beauty Pageant in Punjab, where she secured the gold medal and the winner's title. However, financial constraints made it difficult for her family to arrange the expenses for her trip to Europe. Her father, Dharma Nirola, who works at a private company in Guwahati, has a modest income and supports the family. After learning about the family's situation, Hagrama Mohilary extended financial assistance to support Rupa's participation. A delegation of BPF leaders, led by ABSU Vice President Gautam Sharma, handed over the financial aid to her family. Rupa is scheduled to leave for the Czech Republic on July 19, with people across Assam wishing her success as she represents India on the global stage.
