
Three Killed as Coal-Laden Truck Runs Over Scooter in Sundargarh

(SatyaNewsAlert): A three-year-old child and mother , grandmother were killed in a horrific road accident near Bhasma police station in Sundargarh district on Thursday evening.
The accident occurred in front of a petrol pump along the Biju Expressway when a coal-laden truck allegedly ran over a scooter carrying the victims. The deceased have been identified as a three-year-old child from Gaijor village under Sadar police station, the child’s mother, Mita Singh, and another elderly woman.
Mita Singh’s sister, Lisa, sustained critical injuries in the accident and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the truck driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. Angry locals subsequently blocked the Biju Expressway, causing a major traffic disruption, with a large number of vehicles stranded on both sides of the road.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nirmal Chandra Mahapatra and personnel from Bhasma police station reached the spot and engaged with the agitating locals. Following discussions with the police, the road blockade was eventually lifted and traffic movement resumed.
Police have initiated an investigation into the accident and efforts are underway to trace the absconding truck driver.
