#News || Although floodwaters have started receding across most parts of Assam, the disaster continues to leave behind massive destruction. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the floods have claimed 81 lives so far, with three more deaths reported in the last 24 hours—two in Sivasagar and one in Golaghat. The floods have also severely affected the state’s rural economy. ASDMA said 11,170 livestock animals have been washed away, while another 17,021 animals have been impacted, causing significant losses to farming families dependent on livestock. Agriculture has also suffered extensively, with 21,523.08 hectares of crop land remaining submerged. Despite improving conditions, around 3,00,031 people are still affected by the floods across several districts of the state. Charaideo remains the worst-hit district with 1,37,561 people affected, followed by Sivasagar (84,600) and Jorhat (49,911).
