#News || Four police personnel have been suspended after an ambulance carrying a patient was allegedly stopped to clear the way for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy in Silchar.
The suspended personnel include two sub-inspectors and two Lance Naiks, posted in Silchar and Katigorah.
The action followed a public apology by Chief Minister Sarma to the patient and the family. He termed the incident “unacceptable”, stressing that no VIP movement should take precedence over a person requiring urgent medical care.
Sarma said he had directed officials to ensure that VIP or convoy movement does not disrupt ordinary citizens. He also ordered an inquiry into the incident and directed firm action against those responsible.
The Chief Minister further warned that officials found violating convoy-related instructions would face strict consequences.
