Odisha Vigilance Unearths ₹5.74 Lakh Cash, Properties and Valuables During Searches Linked to Lathikata Tahasildar
Sundargarh/Rourkela, August 21 (SatyaNewsAlert): Further investigations by the Odisha Vigilance into alleged possession of disproportionate assets by Muralidhar Urmal, OAS, Tahasildar-cum-Sub-Registrar of Lathikata, have led to the seizure of an additional ₹5.74 lakh in cash during searches conducted at locations in Sundargarh and Rourkela.
Urmal was intercepted by Vigilance officials on Thursday while allegedly carrying ₹5 lakh in suspected ill-gotten cash. With the latest recovery, the total cash seizure so far stands at ₹10.74 lakh.
During the searches, Vigilance officials have also unearthed several other assets and valuables, including:
A double-storeyed building measuring approximately 3,700 sq ft at Karmdihi in Sundargarh.
Six high-value plots located on the outskirts of Sundargarh and Rourkela towns.
241 grams of gold jewellery and 635 grams of silver ornaments.
Bank, postal and insurance deposits amounting to ₹66.10 lakh.
One Hyundai Grand i10 Sports four-wheeler and three two-wheelers.
The searches are still continuing at various locations. The Vigilance Department is expected to conduct further verification and assessment of the assets and financial transactions.
