The protest called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raised demands linked to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The protest was held despite Mumbai Police and BMC denying permission for Shivaji Park citing restrictions linked to the area’s silence zone. Thousands of protesters gathered at the venue while several public figures including Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi also attended or expressed support.
