#Dibrugarh | In a collaborative humanitarian initiative, the Eastern Assam Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EACCI) and Berns Brett India Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd. (BBI Broking) have joined hands to support women affected by the ongoing floods in Assam by donating essential clothing to the District Administration, Dibrugarh.

The relief materials, comprising 2,500 pieces of women’s undergarments along with mekhela and chador, were formally handed over to the District Commissioner of Dibrugarh. The programme was attended by representatives of EACCI, Amit Shah representing BBI Broking, and members of the local media.

The initiative was made possible with the support of Vedanta Baruah, Promoter of Berns Brett India Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd., who partnered with EACCI to ensure that essential clothing reaches women living in flood-affected areas and relief camps across the district.

The Chamber also expressed its gratitude to Motilal Pratapchand Wholesalers for providing a generous discount on the purchase of the relief materials, enabling a larger quantity of essential items to be procured for those in need.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of EACCI said that while food, drinking water, and shelter remain immediate priorities during disasters, the need for women’s clothing and undergarments is often overlooked. The initiative aims to address this critical requirement by ensuring dignity, comfort, and hygiene for women residing in relief camps.

Reaffirming their commitment to community welfare, EACCI and Berns Brett India Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd. said they will continue to support relief and rehabilitation efforts during times of crisis. They also appreciated the cooperation extended by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Assam) and the District Administration, Dibrugarh, in facilitating the distribution of the relief materials.

#Assam | The Global Sikhs relief team on monday departed from Dibrugarh for the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo and Sonari to extend humanitarian assistance to families affected by the devastating floods in Upper Assam.

Before beginning their journey, members of the team gathered for an Ardas, the traditional Sikh prayer, seeking blessings for a safe mission and for the well-being of those affected by the floods. The prayer reflected the Sikh values of seva (selfless service) and compassion towards those in need.

The organisation acknowledged the remarkable efforts of Sikh organisations, Gurdwara Management Committees and volunteers across Assam who have been actively engaged in relief work. The Gurdwara Management Committee, Sivasagar, along with Sikh organisations and Gurdwaras from Jorhat, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and other nearby districts, have been providing food, drinking water, shelter and other essential support to flood-affected families.

Those wishing to contribute or support the rehabilitation initiative may contact the coordinators at 9210095950 or 9811675751.
