#News || Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya felicitated Lakhimpur’s Rupamoni Gorh, the first Assamese woman to scale Mount Everest, at Raj Bhavan on Sunday in recognition of her historic achievement. She was accompanied by the leader of the ITBP All Women Everest Expedition 2026, Bhonita Timungpi, along with members of the Assam Mountaineering Association. The Governor hailed Rupamoni Gorh’s remarkable accomplishment as a shining example of courage, determination and women’s empowerment. He said her inspiring journey would motivate young people, especially girls, to dream big and achieve greater heights.
