#News || The Assam Government has unveiled a major healthcare expansion plan aimed at improving medical services across the state under the 2026-27 Budget.
As part of the initiative, every health sub-centre will gradually be staffed with at least one MBBS doctor, along with adequate nursing personnel, to ensure quality healthcare reaches even the most remote areas.
The government has also announced a significant upgrade of healthcare facilities in tea garden regions by strengthening infrastructure, diagnostic services, medical equipment, medicine supply, and deploying dedicated doctors.
To improve secondary healthcare, existing First Referral Units will be upgraded and new ones established, ensuring every Assembly constituency has access to at least one 50-bed referral health facility.
