#News || More than 1.27 crore linen items, including bedsheets, towels, blankets, pillows and pillow covers, have reportedly gone missing from Indian Railways’ AC coaches between January 2022 and May 2026, raising serious concerns over the misuse of public property. The figures emerged from an investigation by The Indian Express, based on government records obtained through RTI applications filed across 69 railway divisions. The missing items include essential bedroll materials provided free of cost to AC passengers, with Indian Railways serving nearly 8 lakh passengers every night through its complimentary linen service.
