On the occasion of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, a special celebration was organized on 14.08.2026 at the Directorate of Census Operations, Chandigarh under the able guidance of Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, DCO Chandigarh.

All the officers and staff also conducted a rally under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as part of the celebrations in Sectors 19, 18 and 7, spreading the message of patriotism and national pride.

The occasion served as a reminder of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and reinforced our collective commitment to uphold the values of unity, integrity, and service to the nation.

The celebration concluded with renewed enthusiasm and a deep sense of national pride.

On 04.06.2026, Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director, Directorate of Census Operations, Chandigarh, held a meeting with all officers and staff of the Directorate following the successful completion of the House Listing Operations (HLO), the first phase of Census 2027, in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
During the meeting, the Director appreciated the sincere efforts, dedication, and teamwork of all Charge Officers, Supervisors, Enumerators and Census officers/officials who contributed to the timely and successful completion of this important national exercise. 
She noted that the House Listing Operations were successfully completed across all 10 Census Charges, covering 2,054 House Listing Blocks (HLBs) in Chandigarh. The operation was carried out with the active participation of more than 2,500 field functionaries, including Enumerators, Supervisors, Charge Officers, and Census officials.
The Director observed that the successful completion of HLO is a significant milestone and has laid a strong foundation for the next phase of Census 2027, namely Population Enumeration. She encouraged all officers and staff to continue working with the same commitment, enthusiasm, and professionalism during the forthcoming phase.
The Director congratulated all concerned for their valuable contribution and conveyed her best wishes for the successful conduct of the next phase of Census 2027.

An in-house training session on Circular No. 21 regarding the formation of Enumeration Blocks (EBs) from HLBs and preparation of AHL through the CMMS Portal was conducted on 13 August 2026 under the able guidance of Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director, DCO Chandigarh.

A detailed PowerPoint presentation was delivered by Ms. Akriti Pandey, Deputy Director, covering the key aspects of the EB Formation process in CMMS, including creation of EBs/Sub-EBs, allocation of Census Houses and preparation of AHL.

All officers and officials attended the training and actively participated in the session. The training was highly interactive, with detailed discussions and clarification of doubts and queries. The Director, Chandigarh, also explained and clarified the doubts and provided necessary directions on the subject.

Sh. Madhav Shyam, Retired Deputy Director, DCO Punjab, also shared his valuable insights and practical experiences gained through his long association with Census operations. His contribution added significant practical perspective and enriched the discussions during the session.

The valuable guidance of Director will facilitate the smooth and accurate implementation of the process.

The 80th Independence Day celebration was jointly hosted by the Directorates of Census Operations, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
On this proud occasion, the National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Lalit Jain, Director, Census Operations, Haryana, in the presence of officers and officials from DCO Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. 

The celebration was organised under the able guidance of Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director, Census Operations, Chandigarh and Punjab, and was marked by the singing of Vande Mataram and the National Anthem.
The occasion provided an opportunity to remember and pay heartfelt tribute to the freedom fighters whose courage, sacrifice and dedication secured the freedom of our nation. Their invaluable contribution continues to inspire us to serve the country with sincerity, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility.

Under the able guidance of Dr. Navjot Khosa, Director, Directorate of Census Operations, UT Chandigarh, the three-day training programme for the officers/officials  of the Directorate of Census Operations (DCO) on the Pre-Test of Population Enumeration for Census 2027, scheduled from 23.06.2026 to 25.06.2026, concluded today.

The training was imparted by the Lead Trainers, Ms. Akriti Pandey, Deputy Director, and Ms. Archana Nahar, Assistant Director of Census Operations (ADCO), who provided comprehensive guidance on the procedures, methodology, and use of digital applications for the successful conduct of the Pre-Test.

On the initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India, a plantation drive was organized by the Directorate of Census Operations, Chandigarh, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026 (5 June 2026).
On this occasion, Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director of Census Operations, Chandigarh, led the plantation drive at the office premises of the Directorate as well as in Sector 7 A, B and C, Chandigarh. A total of 50 saplings were planted as part of the campaign.
Officers and officials of DCO Chandigarh enthusiastically participated in the programme, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation, enhancement of green cover, and the promotion of a clean and healthy environment.
The plantation drive aimed to promote environmental awareness, encourage sustainable practices, and contribute towards a greener future.

As part of the ongoing Census activities, the Enumerator and Supervisor visited the residence of the Director of Census Operations, Punjab and Chandigarh, for the HLO enumeration process.
Today, on 25.05.2026, under the able guidance of Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, and in compliance with the instructions issued by ORGI, Sh. Abhay Kumar, Assistant Director, along with the DCO team, visited the HLO field inspection site at Sangranpur, Chandigarh. During the visit, he interacted with the Enumerators, Supervisors, and residents of the concerned charge and emphasized the importance of collecting accurate, authentic, and error-free data during the ongoing Census operations. A Medical & Wellness Camp was organised today under the able guidance of Dr. Navjot Khosa IAS, Director, DCO Punjab & Chandigarh.

A panel of doctors, including a Gynaecologist and a General Physician, along with medical attendants, conducted the camp from 10:30 AM onwards, providing medical consultation, health guidance and preventive-care support to the DCO staffs.

Officers and officials from all three Directorates — Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana — actively participated in the camp.

As part of the initiative, Dr. Arpit Kakkar and his team delivered an informative and engaging session on Stress Management and Mental Health, highlighting the importance of emotional well-being, work-life balance and timely care in maintaining a healthy and productive professional life.
The camp provided an excellent opportunity for officers and officials to focus on their physical and mental well-being, while also promoting awareness about preventive healthcare.

The initiative reflects the commitment of the Directorate towards the health, wellness and overall well-being of its officers and officials.

The Houselisting Operations (HLO) exercise has commenced today in Chandigarh. Supervisors and Enumerators are actively and enthusiastically engaged in field activities, including the preparation of layout maps and numbering of census houses. In a significant step towards promoting digital participation in Census 2027, Shri Satyapal Jain, former Member of Parliament and Additional Solicitor General of India, successfully completed his self-enumeration through the online Census portal today. The process was facilitated by Ms. Akriti Pandey, Deputy Director & Head of Office and Shri Sonam Chhering, Assistant Director (T), Directorate of Census Operations, UT Chandigarh.
