I was lucky enough to grow up in the Dehradun of the 90s and early 2000s. I remember roads shaded by giant trees, the cool breeze even in May, cycling without worrying about traffic. Back then, we never thought those things would disappear. Today, every tree that falls feels like another memory being erased. What scares me the most isn’t what I’m losing. It’s what my kids may never get to experience. One day, will I have to show them old photos and say, “This is what Dehradun used to look like.” Because they may never know what it felt like to drive through endless green roads, to breathe clean air after the rain, or to see the Doon Valley wrapped in forests instead of concrete.
