The temple will reopen on June 26 after the completion of the customary rituals associated with the festival. The shrine will remain closed on June 23, 24 and 25, a period observed during the Ambubachi celebrations. The reopening on June 26 will mark the conclusion of one of the largest religious gatherings in the region. With less than a week remaining for the festival, devotees, sadhus and saints from different parts of India and abroad have already started arriving at Nilachal Hill to participate in the annual event. The Kamakhya Temple Management Committee said that the Ambubachi Mahayog Management Committee has been formed to oversee the smooth conduct of the mela. Authorities and various government departments have intensified preparations to manage the large influx of pilgrims expected during the four-day festival. Temporary shelters and pandals have been set up at multiple locations, while drinking water facilities and medical assistance centres have been arranged for devotees. CCTV cameras have also been installed at strategic points to enhance security and surveillance. Officials said personnel from Assam Police, Guwahati Police, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and other agencies are working in coordination to ensure effective crowd management, sanitation, healthcare services and security throughout the festival.
