These awards are distributed on the occasion of World Disabled Day, observed on 3rd December. For these awards, applications are invited through newspapers. The applicant must submit the application form to the office of the District Social Welfare Officer along with the disability certificate and details of the special work done by them. After the necessary verification at the district level, and on the recommendation of the Director, Social Welfare, the Screening Committee at the government level finalizes the eligible person in each category. The award includes a certificate, a medal, and a bank draft/cheque of ₹8,000/-.
