Eligibility Criteria
The following are eligible to participate in the Training and Capacity Building Programme: 1. Students who have passed a Postgraduate degree (preferably in the Science stream) with First Division from any recognized university in India. 1. Final semester/year postgraduate students (preferably from the Science stream) of any recognized university (private, state, or central) in India. 1. Personnel from the Central Government and various line departments of the State Government. 1. Graduate and higher-level students from government, private, and central universities or colleges within the state.

Application Process
- If required for a project, information is provided on the U-SAC portal (<nis:link nis:type=webUrl nis:id=slugId nis:text="www.u-sac.in" nis:value=https://www.u-sac.in nis:enabled=true/>), and selection is made through a walk-in interview within the stipulated period. For this purpose, students are required to submit their postgraduate (first-class) certificates and other academic documents, experience certificates, training certificates, Aadhaar card, bank account details, and caste certificate. Upon successfully qualifying in the interview, the researchers are awarded a research fellowship. - The Vice-Chancellor/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department of the concerned University sends a request letter to the Director, U-SAC, on behalf of the final semester/year postgraduate students (mainly from the science stream) for dissertation/internship at the Centre. Based on this request, and upon receiving the recommendation from the Director, U-SAC, the students are invited for training. For registration, the trainees are required to submit all necessary documents such as Aadhaar card, educational certificates, and mobile number. - Departmental personnel may send a request letter to the Director, U-SAC, through their respective Head of Department. U-SAC organizes capacity-building programs for line departments from time to time, in which officers and personnel of various levels, authorized by their Head of Department, participate. In addition, training programs are also organized from time to time on the request of line departments as per their requirements. There is no provision for training for any specific individual. - The Principal, Head of Department, or Dean of an institute or degree college may send a request letter to the Director, U-SAC. After determining the duration of the training, U-SAC informs the concerned institution, which may then bring its students for the visit.

Who are eligible for research training under this scheme?
Researchers who have passed Postgraduate (preferably Science stream) in first division from a recognized Indian university are eligible. This includes JRF/SRF/Project Scientists selected for government-funded projects.
Are students eligible for training?
Yes. Final semester/year postgraduate students and undergraduate students through internships from recognized universities in India can participate.
Is there any fee for the training programs?
No. All training programs, capacity-building programmes, and workshops are free of cost for students, researchers, and departmental personnel.
Are food and accommodation provided?
Researchers and students need to make their own arrangements for food and accommodation. For departmental training programs, boarding and lodging are provided by the respective line department with U-SAC support. For workshops in colleges/schools, free meals and transportation are provided, but accommodation is not provided.
Who can participate in departmental capacity-building programs?
Personnel from central and state government departments are eligible. Participation is authorized through the Head of Department. Training is organized based on departmental requirements.
How are participants selected for research projects?
Selection is made through a walk-in interview within a stipulated period. Researchers must submit their postgraduate certificates, academic documents, experience certificates, training certificates, Aadhaar card, bank account, and caste certificate.
How can students register for training or internships?
The Vice Chancellor/Dean/Registrar/Head of the University Department sends a request letter to the Director of U-SAC on behalf of students. Based on U-SAC’s recommendation, students are called for training and must submit relevant documents for registration.
How are research projects funded under this scheme?
Research projects are funded by central and state government organizations. U-SAC provides training and support for researchers working on these projects.
