Eligibility Criteria
1. The regular professors working in state government colleges and state university campuses of Uttarakhand, as well as students and research scholars enrolled in regular programs at recognized institutions within the state, are eligible to apply. 1. A research proposal may also include a co-investigator alongside the principal investigator. 1. The broad subject areas for research include Science, Arts and Humanities, Home Science, and Commerce & Management, while interdisciplinary subjects will also be accepted. 1. Research related to the state that proves to be productive and useful in social, economic, contemporary, or other areas of special importance will be encouraged. 1. Priority will be given to problem-oriented, solution-driven, and action-based research topics (Problem and Action-Based Research Programme). 1. Research proposals may also be invited based on requests for specific issues raised by any department of the state government. 1. A maximum period of two years will be allowed for completing the research work, which may be extended by one additional year under special circumstances. 1. Only one research project will be permitted for any teacher or research scholar at a time.

Application Process
- Researchers must submit their research proposals online through the Samarth portal (<nis:link nis:type=webUrl nis:id=slugId nis:text="https://uttarakhand.samarth.ac.in/index/site/login" nis:value=https://uttarakhand.samarth.ac.in/index.php/site/login nis:enabled=true/>). - During the application process, the proposal must be uploaded and forwarded by the institution’s Principal or Registrar within fifteen days of submission; otherwise, it will automatically move to the next level. - The proposal will then be evaluated by the Evaluation Committee, and the research grant will be released in three installments via DBT to the institution’s Research and Development Cell account. - Upon the written request of the Principal Investigator, the Principal or Registrar must make the grant available to the Principal Investigator or Researcher within three days. If this is not done, the State Research and Development Cell Committee must be informed through the Director of Education with clear written reasons, and the final decision will rest with the Secretary, Higher Education/Committee. - The first installment, amounting to 50% of the grant, will be released upon approval of the research proposal. - The second installment, amounting to 30%, will be released only after submission of the utilization certificate. - The third and final installment, amounting to 20%, will be released upon completion of the research work. - The research must be original and in accordance with UGC standards. - A Research Assistant will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month from the release of the first installment until the completion of the research work.
