Application Process

- Residents of villages notified by the department can obtain the prescribed application form from the office of the District Tourism Development Officer or the Tourism Welcome Center. Along with the application form, applicants must submit the following documents: a birth/age certificate, educational qualification certificate, Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Class/Ex-Servicemen certificate (if applicable), a certificate proving Uttarakhand nativity, proof of residence in the same area, and land/building ownership documents. - After submission of the application to the District Tourism Development Officer or Tourism Welcome Center, a committee is constituted under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. The applicant is then called for an interview by the committee. If found suitable in the interview, the applicant is selected. Upon completion of the construction or repair work, a technical committee constituted by the district conducts an inspection. If the work is found satisfactory, the District Magistrate recommends the disbursement, and the department transfers the sanctioned amount for the construction or repair of the homestay directly to the applicant’s bank account. - Identification of Villages – The committee constituted by the District Officer with the District Tourism Development Officer as Member Secretary, identifies eligible villages. Villages may also be proposed for inclusion if they are developing within a 2-kilometer radius of the trekking route; in such cases, the village head, block head, or MLA submits a proposal to the department. The tourism officer then conducts an investigation. A meeting is held under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate to determine whether the village qualifies for the trekking traction route. The meeting minutes and proposal are sent to the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, which conducts its own verification. If found eligible, the council officially notifies the concerned villages.
