Application Process

To select sugarcane farmers eligible for the benefits of this scheme, the selection is carried out after discussions with public representatives in the Gram Sabha (village assembly) meeting at the village level, followed by a survey conducted by the sugarcane supervisor, and upon approval by the departmental officers (Sugarcane Development Inspector, Senior Sugarcane Development Inspector, and Assistant Sugarcane Commissioner).

Who can apply for this scheme?

Farmers who are permanent members of cooperative sugarcane development societies, practice advanced sugarcane cultivation, and whose names are registered in the land records of Uttarakhand are eligible.

Can any sugarcane farmer apply for the scheme?

No, only farmers meeting the eligibility criteria and selected through Gram Sabha discussions and surveys by sugarcane supervisors are considered.

How are breeder seed nurseries distributed throughout the year?

At sugarcane research centres, 25% of nurseries are established in autumn and 75% in spring.

What subsidy is provided for breeder seed production?

A subsidy of ₹100 per quintal is given to institutions for seed distribution. 50% of this is provided for agricultural inputs at sowing, and the remaining is paid after seed distribution.

Is transportation of sugarcane seeds subsidized?

Yes, 100% of the actual cost for transporting elite seeds from research centres is subsidized for buyers or the Sugarcane Development Council.

What is the Sugarcane Seed Differential Price Payment?

The Department provides a subsidy based on the actual cost of sugarcane seeds, whether sourced from within or outside the state.

What support is provided for pest, disease, and weed control?

Farmers are eligible for 50% of the actual cost, up to a maximum of ₹3,000 per hectare.

How are farmers selected for the scheme?

Selection is made after discussions in Gram Sabha meetings, surveys by sugarcane supervisors, and approval by departmental officers such as the Sugarcane Development Inspector.
