Application Process
Step 1: Emergency Treatment at Empanelled Hospital In case of a road traffic accident, the victim should be immediately taken to the nearest empanelled hospital under the Vahan Aksmat Sahay Scheme for emergency medical treatment. The hospital will provide immediate medical care as per the severity of injuries. Step 2: Medico Legal Case Registration The hospital authorities will ensure that a Medico Legal Case is registered with the local police station as it is mandatory for all road traffic accident cases. The hospital will coordinate with the police for proper documentation of the accident and injuries. Step 3: Treatment Package Assessment The treating doctor will assess the nature and severity of injuries and determine the appropriate treatment package from the 27 available packages under the scheme. The treatment will be provided as per the standardized protocols defined for each package. Step 4: Documentation Collection The hospital staff will collect all required documents including Medico Legal Case register details, police intimation copy, pre and post-treatment photographs, medical records, investigation reports, and hospital bills as specified for the respective treatment package. Step 5: Cashless Treatment Provision The empanelled hospital will provide cashless treatment to the accident victim as per the approved package amount. No upfront payment is required from the patient or family members for the covered treatment under the scheme. Step 6: Claim Processing and Settlement The hospital will submit the claim along with all required documents to the scheme authorities for processing and settlement. The payment will be directly settled between the government and the empanelled hospital. Step 7: Discharge and Follow-up Care Upon completion of treatment, the patient will be discharged with proper discharge summary and follow-up instructions. Patients are advised to retain copies of all medical records and treatment documents for future reference and any follow-up care requirements.
